In the Los Angeles area, Chilean Independence open air/outdoors festivities will begin the weekend of the 14th of September in the San Fernando Valley, continuing then on the weekend of the 20th in Orange County and also include celebrations indoors, at a restaurant and nightclub the weekend ending Sunday, September 21st. All events are individually listed below, by date order and outdoor/indoor setting – without any type of preferential order. There is a total of 4 event posters listed below.

EVENT POSTER for the  September 14th event in Woodland Hills:

The event Festival Chileno de Los Angeles 2014  is organized by Promo Events (their first year hosting), and will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 11 am to 11 pm at the Disabled American Veterans Hall 6524 Corbin Avenue, Woodland Hills, CA 91367.  General admission prices :Admission $10.00,  Children under 12, enter free.  Since this event is a festival and not a picnic, it is not permitted for one to bring food and drink.

Festival live musical performances will be by Sajama, Daysi Olmos, Dazer, RadioElei, Paolo, Hermanas Stevenson’s,  Pato Farfan (ex Sonora Palacios) and Manuel Lagos (who appears below in a YouTube video with Grupo fusión, Akople).  With Master of Ceremony and dance music by DJ Niko. Plus performances of Chilaean Grupo Folklorico by Lejos de Mi Tierra. Two local Chilean restaurants will be present: El Rincon Chileno and El Chilenazo as well as other independent food booths.  There will also be additional merchandise booths and jumper for the young ones.

Directions: off the Freeway 101, exit at Tampa Avenue, travel north on Tampa towards Victory Blvd. Make a left onto Victory, when arrive at Corbin  make a right. Destination will be Disabled American Veterans Hall, between Victory and Vanowen.

EVENT POSTER for the September 20th event in Fullerton:

This Orange County Chilean Fest 2014 is hosted  Chile America Sur de California, and will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 11 am to 9pm at Ted Craig Regional Park, 3300 S State College Blvd in Fullerton, California 92835.  Ticket price per person $5.00, children under 12 enter free. (Ted Craig Regional Park has a $5.00 entrance fee – per carwhich pays for the park’s upkeep – but if you park on the street, you can walk in). 

Event highlights are:  Live musical performances by Daysi Olmos,  and event DJ.   Plus performances of Chilean folklore by Grupo Folklorico Chile America Sur de California.  There will also be contests, games and raffles. There will be a raffle for a TV (donated by Daniel’s Furniture) and in a separate raffle of an airline ticket anywhere Avianca travels!

Chile America Sur de California is a nonprofit organization, whose volunteers work with the goal of promoting and make known our Chilean culture in a safe, respectful,  family-friendly environment.  They also attempt to help and be a source of information-resources to the Chilean community who reside in Southern California. (1) From the San Fernando Valley:  Take 101 Southbound to 60 East (towards Pomona)  MERGE onto 57 South/Orange Fwy (towards Santa Ana). Then take 90/Imperial Hwy exit toward Brea. Turn Right onto 90 W/ Imperial Hwy.  Take the first left onto South State College Blvd (signs for Craig Park). Make a U-turn at East Rosalia Dr.

(2) From San Diego: Take the Interstate 5 (towards Santa Ana) Merge 57 North (toward Pomona) take the Yorba Linda Blvd Exit. Turn left onto Yorba Linda Blvd. Turn right onto N. State College Blvd

A Chilean restaurant that has been in Los Angeles since the late 1960′s, El Rincon Chileno will hosts its annual patriotic days’ celebrations Septiembre Patrio in a sit-down restaurant setting (reservations are recommended).  El Rincon Chileno sends it’s yearly patriotic anniversary greetings to the Los Angeles’ Chilean community and invites them to the following round of food, music and dance related celebrations:

Thursday, Sept 18 – Dinner Celebration with a presentation of the Chilean National Hymn and traditional Chilean folklore and live music by Sajama and Jacqueline Fuentes plus, dancing, cuecas and pop music. $10.00 cover with open menu. Dancing until midnight.

 

 

Friday Sept 19  –  Celebration Continues with live music by Beto Green &  Deejay Carlos Cordova – –  NO COVER – open menu and  dancing till 2am

Saturday Sept 20  – Celebration Continues with live music by Beto Green &  Deejay Carlos Cordova – – NO COVER – open menu and  dancing till 2am

EVENT POSTER for the (over 21) September 20th event in Glendale:

This nightclub event, for those 21 and over is hosted by La Diosa Nghtclub(Giggles Nightclub and Karretros en LA. This is the 6th year that the DJ’s have been organizing these “Chilean-style Carretes” and the 2nd year at this Glendale venue.  The event will be held Saturday Sept 20, Fiesta El Karrete 2014 with two Chilean DJ’s – Deejay Niko and Deejay Pato – – $10 COVER – There will be Chilean drinks specials (Pisco Sour, Piscola – Pisco Alto del Carmen and Vinos Chilenos) and  dancing from 9:30pm till 3am. Free Chilean flags to the first 300 persons.
