The following synopsis is taken directly from Landmark Theatres website:
“Michael Cera (Juno, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) teams up with maverick writer/director Sebastián Silva (The Maid) in an offbeat comedy/drama about young people trying to discover themselves. Cera plays Jamie, a boorish American tourist in Chile who, in a fit of drunkenness at a wild party, invites free spirit Crystal Fairy (Gaby Hoffmann, in a breakout performance) to accompany him, never expecting to see her again. However, the next day she joins Jamie and the three Chilean brothers (played appealingly by the director’s own siblings) with whom he is travelling on a road trip to find and experience a legendary, shamanistic hallucinogen called the San Pedro cactus. What is meant to be a devil-may-care journey becomes a battle of wills as Jamie finds himself at odds with his new traveling companion, who has few inhibitions, shedding her clothes with wild enthusiasm. When the magic brew is finally imbibed, and the true adventure begins, preconceived notions and judgments fall away, and the ragtag group finally breaks through to an authentic moment of truth. Winner of the Best Director Award (World Cinema) at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. Official Web Site – - Betsy Sharkey’s Los Angeles Times review…“
