This week Apple announced that they will be opening offices in Santiago, Chile. Yes, Chile has been selected as the location in which Apple will serve for most of South America, Beating out possible locations in Argentina and Peru. Apple began posting job opportunities in Santiago in August for various positions including marketing and sales. Chile has been known to be a large market for cell phones and currently the Apple iPhone has roughly 10% of the nation. Korea’s Samsung has come in strong to the country and is taking a chunk of the marketplace. Apple might be looking to change that.
Although nothing has been set – there is a rumor out there that Apple might be opening an Apple retail store in Chile. That would be a first for Latin America.
Apple currently has offices in Mexico and Brazil.
